Teen arrested in East Capitol Street shooting of 15-year-old

WASHINGTON, DC — A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a November 22 shooting that left a 15-year-old injured in Southeast DC, police announced Thursday.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:42 a.m. in the 1700 block of East Capitol Street SE. Detectives determined the shooting took place in an alley behind an apartment complex, after which the victim, a 15-year-old male, ran to Eastern High School for assistance. The teen was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, January 8, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested the 17-year-old suspect in Prince George’s County. The arrest was made pursuant to a DC Superior Court Custody Order charging the teen with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

This case remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
