BRIDGETON, N.J. — A Delaware woman was arrested after driving her car into a hospital emergency department in southern New Jersey on New Year’s Eve, police said.

Officers with the Bridgeton Police Department responded to Inspira Health Center shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, following reports of a vehicle crashing into the building.

According to authorities, 38-year-old April Love, of New Castle, Delaware, drove her car through the doors of the ambulance bay at the hospital’s Emergency Department and continued about 60 feet down a hallway.

A security guard was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being struck, sustaining a minor injury, police said.

Love remained at the scene and was arrested. She was later charged with assault by a motor vehicle, endangering another person, and criminal mischief.
