ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis police were kept busy over the New Year’s holiday with a series of incidents ranging from thefts and vehicle break-ins to aggravated assaults and an attempted auto theft, according to the latest police blotter.
Attempted Auto Theft:
On Jan. 1, officers were called to the unit block of Silverwood Circle at 7:29 p.m. for a report of an attempted auto theft. The victim discovered the rear driver’s side window of their vehicle smashed and damage to the ignition consistent with a theft attempt.
Thefts and Break-ins:
Numerous vehicle break-ins were reported across the city:
- Three vehicles were broken into on the 7400 block of Edgewood Road at 6:42 a.m. No valuables were taken.
- A Toyota Tacoma parked near a garage on Edgewood Road had $2 stolen from its center console.
- A vehicle on the 100 block of Bonny Way was broken into, and a gray Helly Hansen vest, leather briefcase, and laser measure were stolen. Some items were later recovered nearby. Total loss value: $500.
- On the 1000 block of Paddington Place, $200 in cash and a bottle of Chanel perfume (estimated at $200) were stolen.
- On the 900 block of Forest Hills Avenue, a vehicle was rummaged through, and a vehicle registration was stolen.
Additionally, two high-value thefts were reported:
- A package containing UGG boots valued at $132.99 was stolen from a porch on Breakwater Drive on Dec. 31.
- A black Yves Saint Laurent bag, Louis Vuitton wallet, and other personal items totaling $1,220 were stolen from a patron celebrating New Year’s at the Parlay Room on State Circle.
Auto Theft:
A green 2021 Vespa Piaggio scooter was stolen from a residence on Roosevelt Court. The theft occurred sometime between Dec. 30 and Dec. 31.
Assaults:
- On Rosecrest Drive, officers arrested a man for first- and second-degree assault after responding to a domestic disturbance at 1:54 a.m. on Jan. 1.
- On Center Street, a victim reported being threatened with a 24-inch knife during an argument on Dec. 31 at approximately 11:05 p.m. Charges are pending against the suspect.
- On Marcs Court, a woman reported being struck by her child’s father during an argument on Jan. 1. The suspect fled the scene, and the investigation continues.
