BALTIMORE, Md. — A retired automotive industry worker from Baltimore received an unexpected holiday windfall after winning the $100,000 top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Snowflake Tripler scratch-off ticket.
The man and his wife were attending a festive gathering with friends when he received the $10 ticket as a gift. He waited for his wife to finish scratching her ticket before revealing his own, uncovering a $10,000 match almost immediately. Moments later, he discovered nine additional matches, confirming a $100,000 win.
“I didn’t believe it. Just couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” the winner said in disbelief, noting that his wife and the gift-giver also initially doubted the win. He stepped away to verify the ticket at a Lottery retailer, returning to the party with official confirmation and a reason for an even bigger celebration.
The winner’s friend, who had gifted the ticket, was among the most overjoyed at the news. The scratch-off was purchased at Bernie’s Liquors on Martin Boulevard, which will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The Snowflake Tripler win added an unforgettable twist to an already joyous holiday celebration for the close-knit group of friends.
