WASHINGTON, D.C. — A shooting in Northwest D.C. on Tuesday afternoon left a 17-year-old girl injured and led to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect who later turned himself in to authorities.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:02 p.m. on December 17 in the 200 block of Morgan Street NW. Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation revealed that two suspects attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint before a third suspect exited a vehicle, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Police later distributed a photo of one of the suspects to the public.
On the morning of December 18, Justice Thomas, 18, of Northeast D.C., surrendered to police and was arrested. He faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
