23-year-old man dead in D.C. shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 23-year-old man was fatally shot late Friday night in Northeast, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Authorities were called to the 100 block of 33rd Street, Northeast, at approximately 11:03 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Responding officers found an adult male who was unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound.

DC Fire and EMS arrived on the scene and determined the victim showed no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the location.

The victim has been identified as Mekhi Vaughn, a resident of Northeast, D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with this homicide.
