Up to Two Inches of Rain Expected Today Before Warm Weather Makes Way for Arctic Blast

New Jersey is in for a dynamic stretch of weather over the next three days, beginning with significant rainfall and ending with a return to cold, sunny conditions. Today brings heavy rain and possible thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce heavy downpours, with rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches expected.

It will be breezy, with temperatures peaking around 65°F and strong south winds gusting up to 40 mph. Tonight, rain will taper off by late evening, with a sharp drop in temperature to around 30°F. West winds will continue at 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 30 mph, with additional rainfall between a quarter and half an inch.

Thursday ushers in drier and much cooler weather. Skies will clear for abundant sunshine, but temperatures will struggle to reach 39°F. Southwest winds may still gust up to 30 mph, adding a noticeable chill. By Thursday night, temperatures will plummet to a brisk 18°F under mostly clear skies, with winds easing slightly.

Friday maintains the sunny and cold trend, with a high near 36°F. Winds will calm further, coming from the west at about 5 mph. Compared to today’s mild but stormy start, the end of the week will feel much colder but significantly calmer and more settled.
