BALTIMORE, Md. — Maryland Lottery players had a week of excitement as three $50,000 Powerball prizes were won in the state, while the Mega Millions jackpot climbed to an estimated $619 million for its upcoming drawing.
The Powerball prizes were among the highlights of nearly $32.2 million in total lottery winnings distributed in Maryland between Dec. 2 and Dec. 8. The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing, valued at $256 million, was ultimately claimed in Queens, New York, resetting the jackpot to $20 million.
Maryland players can now turn their focus to the Mega Millions drawing on Dec. 10, with a jackpot featuring an annuity value of $619 million or a cash option of $297.7 million. The rolling jackpot game continues to draw attention nationwide.
In addition to the Powerball prizes, scratch-off games delivered significant winnings to Maryland players last week. Among the $50,000 scratch-off prizes claimed were winners from MacPhail Exxon in Bel Air, Keller’s Market in Accokeek, Twin Beach Convenient Mart in Chesapeake Beach, Seat Pleasant BP, Food Lion in Middle River, and Discount Cigarettes in Brooklyn Park.
Players are reminded to sign the backs of winning tickets and store them safely. Maryland Lottery officials noted that prizes over $25,000 must be claimed at the Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, while smaller winnings can be redeemed at casinos, authorized retailers, or Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
