Megan's Law Sex Offender Arrested in Ocean County for Failing to Register

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Michael Scott Bezak, a 51-year-old resident of Stafford Township, was incarcerated on Monday in Ocean County for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements under New Jersey state law, according to public records.

Bezak, who was convicted in 1998 for endangering the welfare of a child in Ocean County, is required by law to register as a sex offender due to his prior conviction. Court documents indicate that Bezak failed to meet the mandatory requirements outlined under statute 2C:7-2A(3), leading to his arrest and subsequent incarceration.

A detainer for Bezak was issued out of Atlantic County and by the New Jersey State Parole Board.

The original 1998 conviction states that Bezak gained access to his victim through the course of a relationship, though specifics of the incident were not released. His non-compliance with New Jersey’s Megan’s Law, which mandates sex offender registration, has now resulted in the current charges.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has not commented on the case, but Bezak remains in custody as authorities continue to review his compliance history.
