BAYVILLE, N.J. — A multi-acre wildfire broke out in Bayville, Ocean County, on Saturday, prompting road closures and mobilizing firefighting resources as the blaze continues to burn unchecked.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service reported that the fire, located near Ocean Gate Drive and Louis Avenue, remains 0% contained and was expected to grow to 10 acres before full containment is achieved. Three structures in the area are threatened by the fire, though no evacuations have been ordered.
Ocean Gate Drive was closed due to heavy smoke.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have issued a reminder to avoid flying drones in the vicinity of the fire zone, as they can interfere with firefighting operations.
