Man charged in October fatal shooting in Wicomico County

SALISBURY, MD — A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in October in Wicomico County, Maryland State Police announced Friday.

Jermaine Wilson, of Princess Anne, faces charges including first- and second-degree murder, attempted first- and second-degree murder, and multiple related offenses. He is being held at the Caroline County Detention Center.

The shooting occurred on October 28, 2024, shortly after 7:30 p.m. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to the 800 block of West Road in Salisbury, where they found 32-year-old Tevin Mumford suffering from gunshot wounds. Mumford was transported to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, where he was later pronounced dead.

A second victim, 33-year-old Ekoye Emmanuel Spates, also of Salisbury, was injured in the shooting and received treatment at Christiana Hospital in Delaware.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation with assistance from the Criminal Enforcement Division Eastern Region. Authorities have not released further details about a motive or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
