Delaware man arrested in fatal Cecil County shooting that left two dead, two injured

ELKTON, Md. — A 23-year-old Delaware man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a November shooting in Cecil County, Maryland, that left two people dead and injured two others.

Justice Schmeek Pratt, of Bear, Delaware, faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and firearm-related offenses, according to Maryland State Police. Authorities took Pratt into custody earlier in the day at a residence in Bear with assistance from Delaware State Police and the First State Fugitive Task Force.

The shooting occurred on November 2 at a party in the unit block of Chestnut Drive in Elkton. Police said an argument broke out among attendees, which escalated and moved outside, where Pratt allegedly opened fire into the crowd.

Two of the victims, identified as 26-year-old Tamir Rasheek Davis of New Castle, Delaware, and 26-year-old Darius Anthony Blalock of Bear, Delaware, were pronounced dead. Davis died at a hospital after being transported by citizens, while Blalock’s body was discovered on the side of southbound I-95 later that morning. Two additional victims, whose identities have not been released, sustained injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

During a search of Pratt’s residence on Channing Drive, authorities recovered two 9mm pistols and multiple rounds of ammunition. Pratt is currently awaiting his initial appearance before a court commissioner in Cecil County.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case and has asked anyone with information to come forward.

Two men lost their lives in a party shooting turned deadly, as police arrested a suspect nearly a month later.
