Reading Police donate ready-to-eat meals to local rescue mission

READING, Pa. — The Reading Police Department donated a supply of ready-to-eat meals to the HOPE Rescue Mission as part of its ongoing efforts to support the community, the department announced.

Chief Richard Vazquez, Officer Sanchez, and RPD Pastor Camacho represented the department during the donation, delivering the meals—commonly known as MREs—to the organization on Tuesday. The department shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the mission’s work in aiding those in need.

“Your support [for] HOPE Rescue Mission makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need, and we are incredibly grateful for your kindness and commitment to our community,” the department wrote in a statement.

HOPE Rescue Mission provides shelter, meals, and assistance programs to individuals experiencing homelessness in Berks County. Rob Turchi, CEO of the mission, along with Food Services Director Connie Kohler and Light House Shelter Manager Maritza Vargas, were recognized by the police department for their leadership and dedication.
