District Heights, Md. — A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with a May triple shooting that killed a 14-year-old girl and injured two others, Prince George’s County police announced.

Chance Waters of Hyattsville faces first and second-degree murder charges, among other related offenses. Police said the shooting took place on May 31, just before 2 p.m., in the 6600 block of Atwood Street.

Officers found 14-year-old Khamya Ferrell, of Suitland, and an adult woman inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. A third victim, an adult man, was located outside the building. All three were transported to the hospital, where Khamya succumbed to her injuries on June 5.

Detectives believe Waters and three additional suspects targeted the victims as part of an ongoing feud. Khamya was struck by a stray bullet and was not the intended target. Police are still working to identify the other suspects involved.
