CRANFORD, NJ — Two men from Elizabeth, New Jersey, were arrested and charged after police investigated the theft of packages containing children’s toys from a residential porch in Cranford over the weekend.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., when Cranford police were dispatched to the 50 block of Elizabeth Avenue. The victim reported that several valuable packages had been stolen from their front porch. Surveillance footage captured two unknown individuals removing the packages and fleeing in a white compact vehicle.

Following an investigation led by Detectives Jason D’Agostino and Michael O’Neil, authorities identified the suspects as Imanoll Alzatevargas, 22, and Andres Gonzalezgomez, 26, both of Elizabeth. On Monday, December 2, the suspects were arrested and charged with third-degree theft.

The stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim, according to police. Both men have been issued Superior Court appearance dates to answer the charges.

Authorities have reminded residents to monitor package deliveries closely and ensure surveillance systems are functioning, especially during the busy holiday season when thefts tend to rise.
