ERIE, Pa. — Mayor Joseph Schember has declared a snow emergency for the City of Erie, effective Friday and lasting through the weekend, as heavy snowfall continues to impact the region.
The emergency declaration enforces Odd-Even parking regulations through Saturday and Sunday to ensure plows can clear streets effectively and emergency vehicles can navigate safely. Residents are urged to park on the north or west side of streets on odd-numbered days and on the south or east side on even-numbered days.
Police will ticket and tow vehicles violating the regulations, the Erie Police Department said. Residents in cul-de-sacs are encouraged to use driveways, and those in areas without Odd-Even parking are asked to park on one side of the street to allow room for plows.
Authorities are also asking residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay off city streets when possible to facilitate snow removal.
For updates on the city’s snow operations and winter weather guidelines, residents can follow @CityofEriePA on social media or visit the city’s website.
The declaration comes as Erie braces for continued snow throughout the weekend.
