An 18-Year-Old Delaware Man Finds Out: Sees Drunk Driving Stop Turn Into Gun and Drug Arrest

SEAFORD, DEL. — An 18-year-old from Laurel was arrested on Saturday for driving under the influence and possessing drugs and a loaded firearm after being stopped by Delaware State Police.

At approximately 12:59 a.m. on November 23, a trooper observed a maroon Chevrolet Equinox swerving across yellow lane lines on Middleford Road near Sussex Highway. Police identified the driver as Juda Hudson, who was alone in the vehicle. Officers reported signs of impairment and conducted field sobriety tests, leading to Hudson’s arrest.

A search of the SUV uncovered 136.69 grams of marijuana in multiple packages and a loaded handgun located under the driver’s seat.

Hudson was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, driving under the influence, and other traffic-related offenses.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and is currently being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a secured bond of $15,502.

A loaded firearm and over 130 grams of marijuana were seized in the stop, authorities reported.
