OAKLAND, N.J. — A 34-year-old man is facing charges of attempted murder and weapons offenses after allegedly stabbing a man inside an Oakland establishment on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident occurred on November 21 at approximately 2:56 p.m., when Oakland Police responded to a reported stabbing at 455 Ramapo Valley Road. Officers arriving at the scene found a 53-year-old man with stab wounds, while the suspect had fled.
Police quickly apprehended the alleged assailant, identified as Jose Higinio Ramos Solis of Oakland, a short distance from the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, though his condition has not been disclosed.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Ramos Solis allegedly approached the victim inside the establishment and attacked him with a large knife. Following an investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Oakland Police Department, Ramos Solis was charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon.
Ramos Solis is being held at Bergen County Jail and is awaiting his first court appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
