Armed Carjacker Caught on Camera in Maryland

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police are investigating an attempted armed carjacking that occurred on November 4 near the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway.

The suspect, whose image has been captured on surveillance video, allegedly approached a vehicle at the location and attempted to forcibly take it while armed. The incident reportedly took place during the evening hours, though police have not yet provided an exact time.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect seen in the footage. Police have described the suspect as wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

The released surveillance video, which captures the suspect’s movements and appearance, is being reviewed by investigators to establish further leads. Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has knowledge of the incident to contact the Major Crimes Division.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and we are seeking the community’s help to identify this individual,” police said in a statement.
