GWYNN OAK, MD — A Baltimore County landscaper reshaped his financial outlook after winning $500,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket purchased during a routine visit to a local 7-Eleven.
The Gwynn Oak resident, a loyal Lottery player who enjoys scratch-offs once or twice a week, randomly selected two $500,000 Crossword tickets during a stop at the 7-Eleven located at 1001 Aviation Boulevard in Baltimore. He took the tickets home and was stunned when the second game revealed the $500,000 top prize.
By forming 10 words in the second puzzle of the $20 ticket, the player unlocked the game’s maximum prize. Choosing to keep his win private, the landscaper said he plans to invest the money and does not intend to retire from his decade-long career just yet.
The winning retailer is also celebrating, as the Anne Arundel County 7-Eleven will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
