Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $303 million as lottery fever builds

TRENTON, NJ — The Mega Millions jackpot has surged to $303 million, just over a month after a Texas player won an $800 million prize, bringing renewed excitement to lottery players nationwide. The next drawing will take place Tuesday night.

This $303 million prize is now the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot of the year. It follows several massive payouts, including the Texas jackpot in September and a $560 million prize won by a player in Illinois in June. Earlier in March, a New Jersey player claimed an extraordinary $1.13 billion, the largest Mega Millions win of 2024.

The September win in Texas saw one lucky ticket matching all five white balls and the Gold Mega Ball, securing the $800 million prize. The jackpot has steadily grown in the weeks since, with no matching ticket yet for the top prize.

New Jersey players have until 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to purchase their tickets for a chance at the $303 million prize. Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each, with an optional $1 Megaplier that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday and are available in 47 jurisdictions across the United States.
