Willingboro, NJ – Two women, identified as Catherine Nunez, 33, and her mother Marisol Nunez, 54, were found fatally shot in their home early Sunday morning. The incident occurred in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood and is under investigation by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and Willingboro Township Police Department.
Police responded to a call reporting a burglary in progress on the first block of Harrington Circle just after 4 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of the victims in an upstairs bedroom. Autopsies conducted by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood confirmed that both women died from gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation suggests entry was gained through a broken first-floor window. The intruder or intruders fled the scene before the police arrived, and no arrests have been made. Authorities do not believe this was a random event and assured residents in the area are not considered at risk.
