TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin was honored with the Harvey Milk Award on Wednesday during a ceremony at the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex in Trenton. The award recognizes Platkin’s efforts in promoting the equitable treatment of all citizens, particularly the LGBTQ+ community, officials said.

The Attorney General has been praised for his dedication to ensuring that law enforcement and legal systems in New Jersey serve all communities fairly.

The award, named after the pioneering LGBTQ+ rights activist Harvey Milk, is given to individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. Local law enforcement liaisons and state officials acknowledged Platkin’s contributions during the ceremony.

“We thank the New Jersey Attorney General and the New Jersey LGBTQ+ Law Enforcement Liaisons for their support and dedication to this important mission,” the Evesham Township Police Department said in a statement.
