Washington, DC – Two additional teenagers have been arrested in connection to the 2023 murder of a man in Northwest Washington, the Metropolitan Police Department announced.
On October 17, 2023, Fourth District officers responded to the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, around 12:54 a.m., following reports of a man down. Officers found 64-year-old Reggie Brown, of Northwest, DC, deceased with trauma consistent with an assault. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and ruled it a homicide.
Previously, three juvenile females—two aged 13 and one aged 12—were arrested and charged with second-degree murder in late March. On Thursday, July 18, 2024, authorities arrested two more juveniles, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old female, both from Northwest DC. The two suspects were taken into custody by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged with second-degree murder.
In court testimony on Tuesday, one of the assailants revealed that the group of five girls, ranging in age from 12 to 15, attacked Reggie Brown because they were “bored” and looking for something to do. Brown, a disabled elderly man, was targeted in the random assault nearly a year ago in the nation’s capital.
