NEWARK, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested 61-year-old Ivis McGriff of Wilmington on Friday for aggravated menacing, felony DUI, and other charges following an incident at an ACME supermarket.

Troopers responded to a report of a disorderly person at the ACME located at 1 University Plaza around 11:04 a.m. on September 27. According to investigators, McGriff brandished a knife and threatened people before fleeing the store in a gray Dodge Dakota. An employee had confronted McGriff after noticing suspicious behavior at the self-checkout, leading to an argument. During the confrontation, McGriff threatened the employee with a knife and left the scene.

Troopers quickly located McGriff’s vehicle on Christiana Road and pulled it over on I-95 near the Route 1 entrance ramp. McGriff was found with a sheathed knife and displayed signs of impairment. He was arrested without incident and taken to Troop 2.

A subsequent check revealed McGriff had three prior DUI convictions. He was charged with aggravated menacing, felony DUI, and other related offenses, and was released on a $23,650 unsecured bond.
