LANHAM, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday night in Prince George’s County, leaving one man dead and sending four others to the hospital. The crash took place on the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 at Route 50.

Ayuk Etta, 40, of Lanham, was identified as the deceased. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Prince George’s County Fire/EMS personnel. Etta had been standing outside his vehicle when the crash occurred.

The incident, reported at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 15, involved a 2016 Honda Pilot and a 2018 Mercedes sedan. Preliminary findings indicate the Honda was traveling northbound on I-495 when it lost control and struck the rear of the Mercedes, which was stopped on the left shoulder.

Two passengers in the Mercedes, Miranda Nembo, 39, and Mayah Nembo, 24, were transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center and later released. Their relationship to each other and to the driver, Etta, has not been confirmed.

The Honda was carrying five male occupants, all friends from Prince George’s County. The driver, Biruk Grimes, 19, and two passengers, ages 18 and 19, declined medical attention. Two others, Olauwadamilola Fatokun, 18, and a 17-year-old, were taken to Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
