STAFFORD, Va. — A series of assaults and DUI incidents occurred across Stafford County this week, leading to several arrests and charges, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
At Mary Washington Hospital on Wednesday morning, a Mental Health Deputy witnessed an agitated man refusing assistance from a nurse. The man then assaulted the deputy, who was uninjured. The suspect was detained, and a warrant was obtained for assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
At the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center, Deputy S.M. Craig responded to a report of a teacher being assaulted by a juvenile after a disciplinary issue. A criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed.
Later that night at an Amazon facility, Deputy M.N. Sayegh responded to an assault in which one employee attacked another over a door not being held open. The suspect was issued a summons for assault and battery.
The next morning, a female suspect at Circle K reportedly pushed several customers in the checkout line and left the store with unpaid merchandise. She was arrested and charged with assault and battery, as well as shoplifting, and was held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Several DUI arrests were also reported. In one case on Foxwood Drive, a Jeep missing a tire was stopped by Deputy T.G. Croson. The driver showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking prior to driving. The driver was charged with DUI and held on a $2,500 bond.
Another incident occurred on Choptank Road, where Deputy C.A. Osborne responded to a domestic dispute. The female involved later returned to the residence while intoxicated. She was charged with DUI and released on personal recognizance.
Deputy K.F. Bierfeldt stopped a speeding vehicle early Thursday morning on Mine Road. The driver displayed signs of intoxication, and controlled substances were found in the vehicle. The driver was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and possession of controlled substances and held on a $5,000 bond.
At 2:24 a.m. on Thursday, First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf conducted a traffic stop at Waffle House, where the driver was found to have an open container of alcohol. The driver was charged with DUI and held on a $2,000 bond.
In addition, a larceny was reported Thursday night at Wawa on Richmond Highway, where staff reported that three female suspects stole four boxes of wine and fled in a white Mazda SUV. Deputies are investigating the incident.
