Juvenile taken into custody after posting online school threat in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. — A juvenile has been taken into custody following an online threat of violence against several schools in Hackensack, according to the Hackensack Police Department.

On the morning of Sept. 14, at approximately 7:35 a.m., police were alerted by school officials and the public about a threatening message targeting schools within the city. The Hackensack Police Department, in collaboration with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, immediately launched an investigation into the incident.

Authorities determined that the threat was unsubstantiated. The juvenile involved has been charged with multiple juvenile delinquency offenses.

The Hackensack Police Department emphasized the serious legal consequences of making threats, regardless of their validity. They urged students to understand the impact of such actions and reminded the public to report any suspicious or threatening activity to school resource officers or administrators.
