ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Two illegal firearms were recovered, and two individuals were arrested in separate incidents this week, the Atlantic City Police Department announced Friday.

The first incident occurred on September 11, 2024, at 9:45 p.m. when patrol officers responded to a dispute on the first block of South Iowa Avenue. Officer Aidan Richardson learned that a 17-year-old male had accused a woman of stealing a bicycle and subsequently showed her a handgun, threatening her. Officers later detained the juvenile, who was found in possession of a loaded handgun, 28 bags of heroin, and a small amount of cocaine. No stolen bicycle was located. The juvenile was charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS). He was remanded to a juvenile detention facility.

In the second incident, on September 12, at 12:04 a.m., Officer Moustafa Maarouf conducted a traffic stop at South Carolina and Drexel Avenues. While speaking with the driver, Isaiah Cooper, 34, of Pleasantville, Officer Moustafa noticed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. K9 Officer Robert Reynolds and his K9 partner, Carlo, detected narcotics in the car, leading officers to discover a loaded handgun and additional paraphernalia containing narcotic residue. Cooper, who had an active warrant, was arrested.

Both incidents are part of ongoing efforts by the Atlantic City Police to remove illegal firearms and drugs from the streets.
