VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A severe single-vehicle accident occurred early on July 31, around 12:32 AM, at the intersection of Shipps Corner Rd. and Old Clubhouse Rd. in Virginia Beach, resulting in two fatalities. Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers were dispatched following a call received by Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS).
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle crashed into the tree line along the 2900 block of Shipps Corner Road. Inside, Francisco Bisono IV, 32, and Shawn Babonis, 49, both from Virginia Beach, were discovered pinned inside the vehicle and unresponsive. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Adam Cieniewicz, also from Virginia Beach, had initially fled the scene. A felony hit and run warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was subsequently apprehended later the same day without incident.
The incident is under active investigation by the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit. Authorities anticipate further charges and are appealing to the public for any information related to the crash.
