Rehoboth Beach Man Arrested After Pursuit in Kent County

Felton, DE — Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Joey Finney of Rehoboth Beach for multiple felony offenses following a pursuit near Felton on July 9.

Around 5:30 p.m., members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force were patrolling South Dupont Highway when they spotted a black GMC Yukon driven by Finney. Recognizing him from previous investigations and confirming active warrants for his arrest, detectives attempted to stop the vehicle at the Royal Farms parking lot at 11460 South Dupont Highway. Finney sped away, leading to a pursuit.

During the chase, Finney was seen discarding an object from the vehicle while driving recklessly through various streets in Felton. The pursuit ended in the parking lot of Uncle Willie’s on Reeves Crossing Road after detectives deployed stop sticks, bringing the Yukon to a halt. Detectives recovered a discarded cigarette pack containing approximately 5.06 grams of powder cocaine and 0.07 grams of heroin.

Finney was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with multiple felonies. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $18,900 cash bond.
