DOVER, DE—Delaware State Police have arrested Michael DiRocco, a 35-year-old man from Claymont, Delaware, on felony gun charges stemming from a traffic stop conducted on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place on June 25 at approximately 12:49 PM along the P.O.W./M.I.A. Parkway as DiRocco approached South Dupont Highway in Dover.
During routine patrol, a state trooper noticed multiple equipment violations on a grey Infiniti Q60. After pulling the vehicle over and contacting DiRocco, a computer check revealed his driver’s license was suspended and there was an active capias for his arrest issued by Newport Alderman Court 42. DiRocco was arrested without any resistance.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm hidden under the driver-side floor mat. Given that DiRocco is a convicted felon, he is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Following his arrest, DiRocco was processed at Troop 3, charged with related offenses, and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond pending further legal proceedings.
