FERNANDINA BEACH, FL—A 20-year-old gamer from New Jersey has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and armed burglary in Florida, following an alleged attempt to kill another gamer. The incident, stemming from an online altercation, led to a violent encounter involving a hammer.
Edward Kang, the accused, was apprehended on Sunday in Florida. Authorities detail that Kang flew nearly 1,000 miles—from Newark Liberty International Airport to Jacksonville International Airport—specifically to confront the victim with whom he had an online dispute.
This marked the first time the two had met in person.

The altercation occurred early in the morning on June 23. Deputies from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence on Harrison Point Trail in Fernandina Beach, about 160 miles north of Orlando, where they discovered a significant amount of blood near the entryway leading into a bedroom.
At the scene, the victim’s stepfather recounted being awoken by his stepson screaming for help.
Upon arriving, he saw the victim lying face down on the ground, pinning an unknown individual who was armed with a hammer.
The stepfather noted that he had never seen the assailant before and that no visitors were expected at the home at the time of the incident.
