Washington, D.C.—A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Northeast D.C. on Monday evening, according to DC Fire and EMS.

The incident occurred near the 2200 block of Adams Place, where the Amtrak train operator confirmed the collision. Emergency crews searched the area and found the victim deceased near the 2000 block of Bladensburg Road.

The D.C. Metro Police Department is investigating the crash. Amtrak reported Monday evening that trains traveling in and out of the station, and BWI Marshall Airport is experiencing delays due to the deadly collision, as investigators requested a hold on all train travel in the area during the investigation.

Riders should expect significant delays as it is unclear when the service will return to normal. Some trains were canceled Tuesday morning due to the service disruption.
