Man Sitting in Car Attacked and Shot in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, PA—An aggravated assault that escalated into a shooting is currently under investigation by the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning at the intersection of South Main Street and West South Street.

A 23-year-old male from Kingston, PA, reported that he was attacked while seated in his vehicle, which was parked at the noted location. According to the victim, a masked male opened the driver’s side door, assaulted him by striking him repeatedly in the face, and then ordered him out of the vehicle.

Following the assault, the suspect displayed a firearm and shot the victim once in the arm. The victim managed to reach a nearby hospital, where he was treated in the emergency room. Police were alerted and arrived at the hospital to gather details from the victim. The investigation into this violent encounter is ongoing, with authorities seeking information and evidence to identify and apprehend the suspect involved.
