WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police arrested 40-year-old Larry Austin of Wilmington on felony gun charges, following a response to a suspicious activity report at the Wilmington Country Club early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 4:50 AM at the country club located at 4825 Kennett Pike. Troopers were called to the scene after reports of an unknown man sleeping in a Cadillac Escalade. Upon arrival, the trooper discovered the vehicle parked with the driver’s door open.
When the trooper opened the rear passenger door to check on the occupant, identified as Austin, he fell onto the concrete, revealing a black gun on the seat. Observations of Austin showed signs of impairment, leading to his immediate arrest. The Taurus G2C 9mm handgun was found to have been reported stolen by the New Castle County Police Department in May 2022.
Further checks revealed that Austin, a convicted felon, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. He was processed at Troop 1, charged with related crimes, and following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 11, Austin was released on a $13,200 cash bond.
