WOODBRIDGE, VA – A 15-year-old male from Gaffney, South Carolina, has been arrested and charged with felony murder and additional crimes following a fatal incident at the Misty Ridge Apartments in Woodbridge. The arrest occurred on June 23, in connection with the death of a 17-year-old male from Spartanburg, South Carolina, which took place on June 18.

According to the investigation, the deceased, along with the accused and potentially another individual, had planned to rob an 18-year-old resident of the apartment complex of marijuana and money. The group, hailing from South Carolina, had specifically targeted this location for the robbery.

On the evening of the incident, the accused and the deceased attempted to contact the resident at his apartment door. When they received no response, the deceased tried to force entry by breaking a window. The resident, who had been asleep, responded by firing his handgun, fatally striking the 17-year-old intruder. The accused then fled the scene, firing shots back toward the apartment complex as he left.

Virginia State Police, along with multiple law enforcement agencies from Virginia and South Carolina, collaborated in the investigation, which led to the arrest of the juvenile without incident in the Fredericksburg area. Two firearms were recovered during the investigation.

The accused is currently held at a Juvenile Detention Center, with a court date pending. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, involving several law enforcement agencies across two states.
