SYRACUSE, NY – The New York State Police in Troop T, in collaboration with the State Department of Transportation, conducted “Operation Hard Hat” today, focusing on enforcing traffic laws in work zones on the Thruway near Syracuse.
Troopers posed as construction workers in work zones in order to catch people not moving over or speeding past the job site.
During the operation, troopers issued a total of 68 tickets for various violations. These included 54 for speeding, two for failing to move over, one for a seatbelt violation, one for failing to obey traffic control devices, and ten for other infractions.

Authorities remind drivers of the importance of vigilance in work zones, emphasizing that speeding not only violates the law but also poses significant risks to both workers and motorists. The State Police urge drivers to heed work zone signs, reduce speed, and remain alert to ensure safety for all.
