SALISBURY, MD – An Eastern Shore woman, known by the nickname “Yeyo,” has won the first $150,000 top prize on the $150,000 Extreme scratch-off game. The grocery store employee discovered her win three weeks ago during a work break.
“Yeyo,” an occasional player, decided to play some scratch-offs during a slow day at work. After two non-winning tickets, she purchased a third $150,000 Extreme ticket. Upon scratching, she initially thought she had won $50 but soon realized it was a $150,000 prize.
To confirm her win, she asked a coworker to check the ticket, who confirmed the $150,000 prize. She then called her husband to share the news. He, a regular player of lottery games, drove to her workplace to see the winning ticket himself.
The couple faced scheduling conflicts but managed to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters earlier this week. “Yeyo” plans to save the winnings for now.
The $150,000 Extreme scratch-off ticket, priced at $10, debuted in late March with five top prizes of $150,000. With “Yeyo” claiming the first top prize, four remain, along with 15 prizes of $10,000 and many others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
The retailer, Union Latina at 810 Beaglin Park Drive in Salisbury, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
