Police Seek Suspect in Assault and Threatening Incident in Queens

NEW YORK, NY – Authorities are on the lookout for a suspect involved in an assault that took place on Monday, May 20, 2024, around 11:45 AM, near the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and Benedict Avenue. An 18-year-old male was the victim of an unprovoked attack when an unknown individual threw a cup of coffee on him and subsequently threatened him by simulating possession of a firearm.

The suspect approached the victim and, without any apparent provocation, hurled a cup of hot coffee at him. Following the assault, the suspect made threatening gestures implying he had a firearm concealed in his right pocket. After threatening the victim, the assailant fled the scene on foot, heading in an unknown direction. Fortunately, the victim, although shaken by the incident, refused medical treatment at the scene.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion. He was last observed wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, and sunglasses. The description provided is based on eyewitness accounts, and the NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying this individual.
