Boston Police Recover Stolen Mopeds, Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect

Boston, MA – On Sunday night, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) responded to a call about an armed robbery near the American Legion Highway side of Franklin Park.

At approximately 8:42 PM, the victims reported being robbed at gunpoint by a group of 5 to 6 males while inside Franklin Park, near the intersection of American Legion Highway and Franklin Hill Avenue. One suspect brandished a firearm from a fanny pack, prompting the victims to surrender their moped scooters, a helmet, keys, a wallet, a gold chain, and medication. The suspects then fled towards a large cookout in Franklin Park.

Although a firearm and several personal effects were not recovered, officers identified Roberto Santiago, 39, of Dorchester, as the armed robber. The stolen scooters and helmet were returned to the victims.

Roberto Santiago will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of armed robbery with a firearm. Additionally, Edvict Pimentel, 37, of Dorchester, was arrested on two outstanding warrants and will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of distribution of Class B drugs and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
