Westmoreland County DA Donates $10,000 to Irwin Police for Body Cameras

Irwin, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli attended Irwin’s monthly council meeting on Wednesday evening to present a $10,000 check to Irwin Police Chief Dan Wensel.

The funds, derived from the office’s drug forfeiture account, will be used to purchase three AXON body cameras for the Irwin Police Department. The money comes from assets seized from drug traffickers who commit drug offenses and is used to assist in enforcing the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device & Cosmetic Act.

In appreciation of DA Ziccarelli’s efforts and support, Irwin Police and the Borough Council presented her with a certificate of appreciation.

The donation marks a significant step in enhancing the transparency and accountability of the Irwin Police Department.
