PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD—The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged 21-year-old Caimon Harrell of Woodbridge, Virginia, as a second suspect in a fatal shooting at a car meet. The incident, which resulted in the death of 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf, occurred on May 19, 2024, around 1:45 am.
During the event held at a shopping center parking lot on the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike, officers found Phipps inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead shortly after. A second victim was also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
This morning, in a coordinated effort with the Prince William County Police Department, Harrell was arrested at his home. He faces charges of first and second degree murder, and first and second degree attempted murder, among other related charges. Currently, he is being held in Prince William County, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
Last week, another suspect, 22-year-old Raheem Adams from Stafford, Virginia, was arrested under similar charges related to this case.
