MANASSAS, VA—Prince William County Police have concluded their investigation into a bomb threat made against Manassas Mall on May 22, 2024. The threat, which led to the evacuation of the mall located at 8300 Sudley Road, was eventually traced to a 12-year-old girl.
Detectives determined that the threat posted on Instagram was not credible. After careful evaluation and in consultation with Juvenile Court Services, it was decided that the case would be addressed through an informal action and handled within the juvenile diversion process.
The initial response to the threat on May 22 involved a thorough search of the mall premises by officers. No explosive devices were found, and it was quickly ascertained that there was no active threat to public safety.
The Prince William County Police Department has emphasized the importance of community vigilance and the swift reporting of any potential threats, while also highlighting the resources available for young individuals to seek help or guidance to prevent such incidents in the future.
