NEW JERSEY – As Memorial Day weekend unfolds, New Jersey residents can expect a mix of sun and storms, according to the latest weather forecasts.

Today, the weather will be mostly sunny with temperatures peaking at around 83 degrees. A gentle southeast wind will blow at 5 to 10 mph. As the evening sets in, the skies will turn mostly cloudy with a low temperature around 60 degrees and a soft south wind at about 5 mph.

Sunday will bring partly sunny skies with another high near 83 degrees. A light south wind in the morning will pick up slightly to 5 to 10 mph by the afternoon. By Sunday night, the chances of showers and thunderstorms increase slightly, especially before 8 PM and then again after 2 AM. Patchy fog is also expected after 2 AM, with the night cooling down to a low of around 62 degrees. The chance of precipitation is at 20%.

Memorial Day itself could see more significant weather activity. The day may start with patchy fog before 8 AM and then turn mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, especially after 5 PM, with some storms potentially producing heavy rainfall. Temperatures will rise to a high near 79 degrees, with southeast winds ranging from 5 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation jumps to 60%, with rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

Monday night continues the trend with showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 AM, followed by a slight chance of more showers and thunderstorms after 2 AM. Some storms could again produce heavy rainfall. The night’s low will be around 65 degrees, with new rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. The chance of precipitation is high at 90%.
