Investigation Launched into Cumberland Fire

CUMBERLAND, MD—A structure fire occurred Monday evening at 14805 Moores Hollow Road, involving an outbuilding and a mobile home. The District 16 Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident, which resulted in an estimated $70,000 in damages, including $65,000 for the structure and $5,000 for contents. No injuries or deaths were reported.

The property, owned by James Decker, did not have smoke alarms or fire sprinkler systems installed.

The fire was discovered by Decker, who was alerted by family members of the fire at his adjacent unoccupied property. It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to control the fire, which originated from the outbuilding and spread to the mobile home.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the fire and are continuing their investigation. The community is asked to provide any relevant information to the Western Region Office, Cumberland Office at 301-729-5544.
