Washington, D.C. — A 28-year-old man is dead and a woman is recovering after a shooting that occurred late Sunday night in the 4400 block of Foote Street NE, the Metropolitan Police Department confirmed.
Officers initially responded to a shooting call around 10:12 p.m. in the 100 block of 54th Street SE, where they found both victims with gunshot wounds. Investigators later determined the shooting took place in Northeast, and both victims fled the scene before being located.
DC Fire and EMS transported the man and woman to an area hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the male victim, identified as Kevin Edwards of Northeast D.C., was pronounced dead. The female victim was treated for injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
