Washington, D.C. — A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that injured another juvenile over the weekend in Northeast D.C., police announced Monday.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 26, at approximately 7:06 p.m. when Fifth District officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue NE. They arrived to find a juvenile male, conscious and breathing, suffering from a stab wound.

DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Young suspect faces serious charge in weekend stabbing

Following an investigation by detectives, a 13-year-old male from Northeast D.C. was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife). Authorities have not released details about a possible motive or whether the two juveniles knew each other.

Because the suspect is a minor, no name or photo has been released. The case remains under investigation.
