MECHANICSVILLE, MD — Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash in St. Mary’s County that left one man dead and two others hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision Thursday evening.
Jean Gagnon, 59, of Mechanicsville, was pronounced dead at the scene after his GMC Envoy collided with a GMC Canyon driven by Casper Bradbury Sr., 92, also of Mechanicsville. Bradbury and his passenger, Norma Bradbury, 90, were airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment.

Crash details released by state police
The crash occurred around 5:58 p.m. on Maryland Route 235 (Three Notch Road) at Mt. Zion Church Road. Preliminary investigation reveals Bradbury was attempting a left turn from southbound Route 235 onto Mt. Zion Church Road and failed to yield to Gagnon’s northbound GMC Envoy.
The Envoy struck the passenger side of the Canyon, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
Maryland State Police troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack responded to the scene, and Maryland State Police Aviation Command airlifted the Bradburys for emergency medical care.
