ALLENTOWN, PA — A shooting Thursday evening in Allentown sent one person to the hospital and launched an ongoing police investigation, authorities said.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on April 24, officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 1000 block of Hamilton Street, according to a statement released by Assistant Chief of Police James Gress. Upon arrival, police discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. First aid was rendered on the scene before the victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
